It doesn’t matter if you have a new truck or a used truck, a high quality set of heavy duty floor mats are a must for any mother trucker! They are necessary in maintaining you trucks carpet, and shielding it from mud, spills and everything else we throw at it. The market is full of floor liners to choose from, and as many of you will know there is a lot of absolute rubbish out there. If your going to be spending hard earned cash, you want to make sure your know wasting it on a cheap set that wont survive a year.
It is important to note that there are many different styles and types of floor mats, each with there own purpose. But, the type that we have reviewed below is high quality heavy duty floor mats. We have done all the hard work and research to put together a list of the top 5 floor mats available for your F150. Keep reading for a short review on each one.
As you will see by the reviews on Amazon, The Weathertech floor liner is leading the game when it comes to the highest quality floor liner for an F150.
The Weathertech Floorliner Digitalfit accurately and completely lines the interior carpet giving absolute interior protection. They are designed to have maximum friction with the carpet, not even the biggest of boots will budge these mats!
The mats have a series of channels and tracks that carry fluids and debris to a lower reservoir. This minimises fluid movement while driving, and stops it from coming into contact with your shoes and clothing. The mats are easily removed then to empty any fluid and dirt from them. They have an over the sill design, ensuring nothing spills onto the carpet when being removed to empty.
I have been buying Weathertech floormats almost as long as I’ve been buying trucks! Once you try it, you’ll never go back to basic floor mats. You may be asking yourself if the price is too high for the purchase? The answer is no! Once you see how easy they are too install and how easy they can be cleaned, you’ll be really satisfied with your purchase. They keep my truck cleaner longer in the dirtiest of conditions. Every truck owner should have a pair!
These should definitely be the first choice for any Ford F150 owner. Just make sure you enter your correct model when purchasing, to ensure optimum fitment. They come rolled up in a box, I normally lay them out in the sunlight and the heat does its job. Otherwise, I would suggest using a heat gun or hair dryer if you want to straighten out any curls.
I was hesitant to purchase these at first, having never heard of them before. I scoured the internet looking for reviews, without much success. Being relatively low priced I thought what the heck, I’ll give them a try. Design wise, these are every bit as good as the leading manufacturers. They fit absolutely perfect, just like the Weathertech mats.
They have the same channel and reservoir system , but I prefer the layout of the channels on the Weathertech mats. This is just me being fussy I think. They still have a decent lip to protect from spills.
The material is top notch for the price, for anybody with a lower budget it is more than adequate. They have a soft plastic kind of material. Being a plastic material, I was surprised how much grip they offer. Most plastic mats I have seen leave your feet slipping all over the place.
I bought the black set, and just fitted the, over my existing black carpet floor mats. The only mat I removed was the drivers mat, purely because I wanted to use the studs to secure it in place.
Overall these are pretty high quality and heavy duty floor mats. A cheap upgrade for your F150 that’ll protect your carpet for years. Kudos to the manufacturer.
Possibly the most well know brand for providing heavy duty floor mats. I do hear a lot of people complaining about the Husky floor mats. They seem to dislike the more rigid plastic type material they are made from. I didn’t really notice this until I compared them to my Weathertech mats. When you have them sitting beside each other, its clear to see the difference.
In saying that, these mats are a lot cheaper than the weathertech liners. And for anyone living in North America where there’s is a lot of snow, these are perfect. They hold up extremely well against the harsh salt used on the road. They lift out effortlessly for cleaning, I normally hit them with the power washer if there really dirty.
As far as fitment goes, I have no complaints. I just did what I do with all new floor liners, lay them out in the sun and allow them to flatten out a bit. They fit perfectly and leave no areas of the carpet uncovered. I like the deep channels on these, and was surprised how much liquid and dirt was trapped in them when I took them out.
I would probably rate these a 4 out of 5. That’s just from my experience with them over the harsh winters, where I have seen many cheaper mats fail. You cant really go wrong with these price-ways. But, if you can afford the Weathertech mats I would choose these instead.
Don’t get me wrong, there is a mountain of cheaper alternatives to the floor liners listed above. So why do you need to spend over 100 bucks on a set of floor mats? Well, the main reason is that these are more than just ‘floor mats’. These mats are custom moulded to fit your specific model of F150 (be sure to select correct model when ordering!). For this reason, they are commonly referred to as ‘floor liners’.
If you only use your Ford as a car, and never have it doing dirty work, then a pair of good OEM mats will be more than sufficient. But the three that we have listed above are high quality heavy duty floor liners that will take some serious abuse, and last for many years without fail. Perfect for anybody who will be putting their Ford to the test.
Some of you may be surprised that I have put the Husky floor liner last on the list. This is really just down to my own personal experience. I feel that the Weathertech is well ahead of the game, and MaxFloorMat is well worthy of that second place. Don’t get me wrong, the Husky liner is still a great choice, but I would highly recommend considering the other two.
Anyway, that’s enough about floor liners! Whats your thoughts on this post? Drop a comment below and tell us what type you have in your Ford F150. Let us know if there’s any other brands you would like to see added to the list. Have a look at our performance, interior and exterior sections for more cool upgrades for your truck. We will be adding new posts as frequently as possible.
Keep on truckin’ mother truckers!
